Chapter Six Reflection

I found Chapter 6 very interesting. I have no idea how many times I’ve had to “check the box that applies” regarding my race/ethnicity. It all is subject to people’s perspective, and I now understand why the test makers of tests such as the ACT make questions like that so vague. I also found the ideas on resisting racism interesting. “We can combat racism through more open dialogue on race.” This quote is the opening line under this topic in the reading, and It relates to many aspects of our daily environments. I agree with this statement in not only a classroom, but also a work environment that relates to me, such as an engineering office.

The opening quote is very interesting! You are very correct in the fact that it not only applies in a classroom setting but in basically any setting. I think people are so afraid of being politically incorrect that they try to avoid talking about racism or different races altogether. It needs to be discussed though!
