I appreciated the bluntness of this chapter and how it just laid down the facts of the success of different races within the classroom. I also related to the NCLB law. My father is a superintendant and my mother is a high school special-ed. teacher, and I have heard complaints about this law constantly. It was nice to hear the intent of the law Bush signed into action. It seems like a good idea on the surface level, but an idea that is unable to be carried out in a perfect fashion. Students with special needs are just unable to achieve the same success in a classroom as regular students.
Megan: It is interesting to see the different perspectives of the NCLB law. It did seem to be a very good idea on paper, but the government never expected it to be this difficult to achieve. This was a very good insight on the topic of NCLB!
ReplyDeleteI agree that the bluntness of this chapter was helpful in providing the statistics of the academic performances of different races.
I agree, and I think it's sad that this issue isn't higher on the list of our country's priorities
